How it works

A safe, private process from start to finish.

Here's exactly how Malecare's peer mentor matching program works — from creating your account to a real conversation with someone who has walked your path.

  1. 01

    Create a free account

Pick your path — patient, caregiver, or mentor — and verify your email. Account creation is free and takes about a minute.

  2. 02

    Complete a short intake

Patients answer about diagnosis stage, treatment, side effects, language, location, and what they're looking for. Caregivers describe their situation and preferred mentor type. Everyone agrees to the peer support boundary statement before continuing.

  3. 03

    See your top matches

We apply safety filters first, then rank eligible mentors using your structured answers and Malecare's admin-set weights. You see your top 3–5 mentors with a plain-language 'why this match' explanation for each.

  4. 04

    Choose one mentor

You contact one mentor at a time — never several at once. This keeps the program safe and respectful of mentor time.

  5. 05

    Send an anonymous intro

Your first message goes through an anonymous relay. The mentor sees only your message and your reason for seeking support — never your name, contact details, or full intake.

  6. 06

    Mentor accepts, declines, or reports

If the mentor accepts, their approved contact options unlock for you. If they decline or don't respond in 48 hours, you're automatically offered the next best match.

  7. 07

Both of you confirm 'we connected'

Once both sides confirm, the relationship becomes active. Conversations happen outside the platform on the contact method the mentor approved (phone, email, video call, etc.).

  8. 08

End or change the match any time

Either of you can mark the relationship complete. You can also request a different mentor. After the relationship ends, both of you receive a short private feedback form.
